This is an old piece (last summer) but we keep doing the Bead People, and I just love it, so here it is! This morning we went to St. Elizabeth Seaton school in Rapid City, and did the Bead People with a first grade class. It is so amazing to see how excited people get when they see the bead people – everybody, and I mean everybody, from little tiny kids to adults of any age just falls in love with them. I’ve been rebuilding our new website, that has a beadblog for the bead people but it’s not ready yet, but soon, soon. Until then, I hope you enjoy the Bead People. I know they enjoy you.

This is a piece that I did as an homage to Werner Herzog and his documentary. Grizzly Man. Of course I could never duplicate the amazing. haunting. and completely over the top film about a man who sets out to save the grizzly bear. IMDB calls it a “devastating and heartrending take on grizzly bear activists Timothy Treadwell and Amie Huguenard, who were killed in October of 2003 while living among grizzlies in Alaska.” Well….yes, maybe I suppose. I remember the night I watched it. I told Jamie about it when she got home. I told her that I was blown away by this film. I couldn’t believe how nuts this guy was. She said, well, let’s watch a minute. So I turned it on and ended up watching it all over again. This moved me to doing this piece the next morning. So there you are. Dog Man.
This is one of my all time Fav’s – I had done it a while ago, and then never looked at it again. Then last fall, I dug it out, and was a bit shaken by it. It’s just play folks – don’t take it too seriously – unless of course you do.
I’m working on this project again, and it seems like we are going to be able to continue doing the letters between inmates and their children. This is an 8 minute version of what is becoming an hour long documentary. It has been seen around the country, internationally, and hopeful will be coming to festival, big screen, or TV station near you. Many of you who have been watching this blog for a long time have seen this piece – perhaps not in the 8 minute form, and maybe not all of the pieces that are included in this version – including the reunion between the girls and their dad. In any case this is the first of a series of old videos that I’m re-encoding, and posting here on this site. My intention is to get all of my old stuff – along with a weekly new piece – up and running on this site, which has the best blogware out there – Show In A Box. Thanks, Milt
