Today, I did my duty and was a poll worker for 4 hrs this morning. And to be honest, I was totally surprised. Now a little bit of background - I am what is known as a “yellow dog democrat” - I would vote for a yellow dog is he/or she was a democrat. So the truth is I don’t hang around many republicans - I just don’t have a lot to talk to them about. But this morning I was working a precinct that is about 70% republican, and I have to tell you, I was amazed. I think there were maybe 5 people out of the 260 voters that came through that I would have thought of as typical republicans. The rest of the folks were just regular working class folks. And yet they were registered republican. I was amazed at what I saw.
This summer, I had a chance to work with the folks at Ecospeed. They make an electric assist for recumbent bikes, and are they ever fun! You haven’t really riden a bike till you’ve riden a bike with motor. When you are headed uphill, or you just feel like flying - press the accelerator, and you are taking off.
The other thing that is so amazing is that you are doing your pocketbook and the planet a huge favor. Imagine not having to gas up at $ 4.00 a gallon (or more) - just so that you can go to the store, or pick up the mail, or just feel like messing around. The great thing about using an electric bike is that you can use electricity that could be produced by wind or solar, and the amount of energy it takes to move a 40 lb. bike is so much less than it’s ever going to be to move a 3000 lb. car.
Folks, it was brought to my attention that the Xacti E1 is out of sync - by 5 Frames. So I checked it out and here’s what I found. I had not heard about this, but that only means that I don’t read everything on the web.
According to Wikipedia, there are 3 versions of this tune - Pat A Cake, Patty Cake, and Paddy Cake (clearly Irish). But around here, it’s Patty Cake. Kaden is just wonderful. So cute that I have to post some more of this tyke. 24 pounds at 6 months!! Outrageous! No more mother’s milk!!! What a sweetie-pie! Being a Grampa is pretty fun, I gotta tell you.
